Last week, President Biden announced a new vaccine mandate that will soon require businesses with more than 100 employees to have their workers vaccinated or tested weekly for the COVID-19 virus, with substantial penalties for non-compliance. “What more is there to wait for? What more do you need to see?” said Biden, as reported in a recent CBS News article. “We’ve made vaccinations free, safe and convenient. The vaccine has FDA approval. Over 200 million Americans have gotten at least one shot. We’ve been patient. But our patience is wearing thin. And your refusal has cost all of us. So please, do the right thing.”
Vaccine Mandate Six-Pronged Approach
CBS reports the new mandates are part of a six-pronged White House strategy to battle the COVID-19 Delta Variant and boost vaccinations as cases, hospitalizations and deaths continue to climb. The six pillars are: vaccinating the unvaccinated; furthering protection for the unvaccinated; keeping schools safely open; increasing testing and requiring masking; protecting economic recovery; and improving care for those with COVID-19.
